Develop an app that connects neighbors to their neighborhood, keeping residents involved and engaged in their community.
The Blurb - App Design
Problem Space + User Research
Problem Space
Residents have been interacting less and less with their community, with COVID-19 acting as a catalyst to this issue. An app that offers localized recommendations of small businesses, events, and news happening in a user’s neighborhood, geared towards parents, families, and adults of all ages, could grow community engagement.
User Personas
Looking to connect with community
Will need more immediate information about the city
Represents younger user
New to the neighborhood
Represents older user
Looking to be more active
Less tech savvy
Will need an app with good contrast
Task Flow to User Flow
Used task flows to outline the necessary steps to accomplish user goals and user flows to identify areas where users will be making decisions and may come across or require friction.
Sketched paper prototypes and tested them with various user groups to see where there was friction. Then began to make improvements moving into the Lo-Fi and Mid-Fi wireframes, repeating this process.

Developed style tiles that utilized friendly forms and colors reminiscent of going outside and engaging with one’s neighborhood. Decided upon orange
as the action color as it is bright and engaging, yet not alarming like red.

Applied the final style guide to the final prototyped wireframes, continuing to test and update the style guide as I continued to test the final prototype with users.
